Muscle Pain Home RemediesMuscle Pain Home Remedies To Help You Manage And Prevent Occasional And Chronic Muscle Pain And Cramps.Muscle pain is an occasional irritant in some people and a constant bother in others. The causes of muscle pain are many and diverse, but the most common is over working muscles during an activity. Other times, it occurs following injury or strain to the tendons, bones, tissues and organs connecting to the muscles. Muscle pain can also signify an underlying problem such as an infection or fibromyalgia. If the doctor has ruled out possibility of an underlying medical condition, you can use a number of natural home remedies to ease muscle pain. If you suspect your pain to be as a result of muscle overuse, take a cold bath. The icing effect will help prevent stiffness and soreness. This treatment is appropriate for muscle pains that develop immediately after an intense exercise or activity. To help prevent muscle pain, apply cold compresses every 30 hours for the next 24 to 72 hours following activity. Avoid using hot water bottles and hot compresses immediately as they have the opposite effect of cold on muscles. They cause dilation and increase the flow of blood to the muscles, which increases swelling. However, you can use heat compresses after the cold compress has worked and the pain receded. Gently massage the area. Massage relaxes muscles, soothing pain in the process. Taking plenty of water before any strenuous exercise or activity keeps the muscles well replenished, thus preventing cramps. Continue your water intake both during and after the workout to ensure that your muscles are not dehydrated at any point. Increase your intake of milk and bananas. Milk provides calcium, which helps in strengthening muscles thus reducing likelihood of pain. Bananas on the other hand contain a healthy dose of potassium, which helps in relieving muscle cramps. Aim to consume at least two bananas a day, or one at the very least. Get plenty of sleep. Practicing relaxation techniques such as yoga and meditation just before bedtime will help you sleep better. |
