Spinal arthritis is most common in adults and is caused in the spinal cord which is the bone that is located on our back that holds us in an upright posture. When this kind of arthritis is diagnosed, it needs to be treated soon to avoid it getting worse as this would have severe consequences such as one being unable to move or stand upright. One of the main pains for this kind of arthritis is back pains. Arthritis back pain symptoms may take place at any point along the spine and although they take time to appear or be felt, eventually they worsen with time. People who suffer this arthritis condition normally have greater pains when standing upright so they lean forward quite often. This is caused by a condition known as stenosis that results from arthritis. Other symptoms are neck pain that flows through to the arms and shoulders. The neck is the highest point of the spine and it is then affected by spinal arthritis. Severe back aches and pains that spread to the lower back, buttocks and legs which are body parts connected to the spine. A patient would also feel numbness in the legs and arms and also cramping or signs of weakness in the same area. Loss of bladder control can also be felt or witnessed by the patient. Spinal arthritis can affect younger people but this is normally through rheumatoid diseases. One symptom is a feeling of stiffness in the morning but with regular movement and exercise, it can get better. |
